Trip Overview
Everest Base Camp Short Trekking is probably the only trekking trip that provides both helicopter tour and trekking. Therefore, lots of people choose the itinerary to do trekking in Everest region of Nepal. We have reduced the redundant days and added the needed things only.
Everest Base Camp Short Trekking or Everest Heli Trek
Yes, Everest base Camp Short Trekking can also be termed as the Everest Heli Trek. Whichever name you wish to use, the trekking trip is undoubtedly the amalgamation of sumptuous helicopter ride and adventurous walking activity. Until trekkers reach the Everest Base Camp (5364 m), the trip follows the itinerary of Everest Base Camp Trek. From Gorakshep, trekkers follow the reverse itinerary of Everest Helicopter Tour.
Itinerary of Everest Base Camp Short Trekking
Travelers start the trekking from Lukla after joyous mountain flight from Kathmandu. The flight route from Kathmandu to Lukla is considered as the most extreme experience. Therefore, the trip offers wilderness excitement immediately after you hop in the aircraft or helicopter from Kathmandu. The first day’s rest is at Manjo followed by the trip to Namche Bazaar. You can get the sight of the Mt. Everest for the first on this day. After walking uphill and about 800 m from Namche Bazaar, trekkers can enjoy the majestic vista of Mount Everest.
Once you have traversed around the Namche Bazaar, trekkers trek to Tengboche via Kyangjuma and Phungi Thanga. The usual acclimatization activity in Namche Bazaar is skipped for this tripl. The itinerary consists of Helicopter return back. Therefore, it is unnecessary to accommodate the Namche Acclimatization activities. The visit of the spiritual monastery of Tengboche offers the pristine spiritual awakening. The magnificent vista and soulful monastery prepare trekkers for an amazing trip ahead.
In fact, trekkers do the acclimatization hiking in Dingboche. If you perform the acclimatization hiking of Nagarshan Hill (5100 m), it helps in getting adjusted to the high altitude walking.
From Dingboche, trekkers trek to Lobuche via Thukla Pass. The place is famous for the memorials of those mountaineers who lost their lives during Everest expeditions. Trekkers can witness the grim reality of Everest expedition as well. The trail from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp is over the glacier and moraine. The air is thinner. Therefore, the place is high risk area for the altitude sickness. The major highlight activities to do from Gorakshep are EBC hiking and Kalapathar hiking. Witness the glorious sunrise from the top of the Kalapathar (5545 m) and leave your footprints on Everest Base Camp.
Everest Base Camp Short Trekking ends in Gorakshep. The trekkers don’t need to trek back to Lukla. They will use the helicopter ride back to Lukla and flight to Kathmandu. While traveling back to Lukla by a helicopter, travelers can get glorious view of Khumbu region from the bird eye perspective.
Trekking Difficulty
Most of the people might think that it would be strenuous to do the short trekking to Everest Base Camp. People misunderstand that the 14 days itinerary is possible in 10 days that can be arduous. However, it is not as such. Though the Everest Trekking is moderately difficult, it is not beyond impossible. Trekkers will be following the similar itinerary as the Everest Base Camp Trek. All they need is the sound physical fitness. In order to get in the proper shape, trekkers have to start doing light cardio exercises one month prior to the trekking. Eat healthy food and avoid bad eating habits.
During the trekking, trekkers need to follow instructions of the guide. You will have to eat soupy food and avoid drinking alcohol. The consumption of the alcohol increases dehydration. The major reason of the altitude sickness is dehydration. Therefore, stay hydrated. If you follow the proper trekking guidelines set by Tramping Himalaya Adventures, the Everest Base Camp Short Trekking is not difficult trekking route to walk on.
Is it Safe to do Everest Helicopter Trek?
Doing the Everest Helicopter Trek is the safest way to reach the Everest Base Camp (5364 m). The itinerary of Everest Base Camp Short Trekking helps to have the best confidence. In fact, lack of confidence is also the reason for the altitude sickness. However, having the itinerary that includes the helicopter ride offers trekkers the opportunity to use the helicopter at any time. People push harder and confidently while doing the high altitude trekking because of the itinerary.
