The Langtang Himal Region is located in the Central Himalaya, a relatively short distance from the capital Kathmandu. The region extends to the Tibetan border at Kyarong, an ancient Trans-Himalayan Salt and Caravan route between Nepal and Tibet.
Langtang Himal and its range of peaks forms the northern border with Tibet. Travellers can visit this beautiful region for all types of adventure, with trips ranging from a week or two, with varying degrees of challenge; all in the shadow of the mighty Langtang Himal.
The Langtang National Park was established in 1976 as the first Himalayan national park.
Within its boundaries can be found a wide variety of eco-systems and vegetatin types. Enchanting rhododendron gardens, hemlocks, oaks, bamboo groves, and more. This rich diversity makes a perfect home for bird life and wild animals, including the rare and endangered Red Panda.

Langtang Himal and the Mid West Himalayan region was badly affected by the earthquakes of April 25th and May 15th , 2015. These earthquakes triggered landslides and avalanches which devastated many of the communities of the region. After three years the villages of the region are returning to normal life.
